Introducing Geopointe Go, Geopointe's offline app

Steve Gravel

Head of Growth

For years, we've often heard from field sales teams about how much they enjoy using Geopointe, and how the platform is vital to their day-to-day operations. And the pleasure is mutual. We love serving them as well.

But until now, we've never been able to deliver Geopointe functionalities offline — and offline is one of the most likely situations that field sales teams find themselves in. The reality of the work is that sometimes reps make site visits in places where cell signals don't always reach, like basements, rural areas, or high-security areas.

Finally, we are excited to announce that we can offer Geopointe functionality offline, with our new Custom Service engagement, Geopointe Go.

Geopointe Go is Ascent Cloud's answer to a standalone Geopointe mobile app that functions independently of the Salesforce app. It lets reps plan, route, and complete field activity, and keeps Salesforce tasks synced and moving without a connection. If desired, managers can also turn on device location tracking at their desired frequency.

How does Geopointe Go work?

Geopointe Go works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that teams install on their iOS or Android mobile devices. It functions as a standalone app outside of a CRM. However, no data is shared on the app itself, and instead gets synced back to the CRM. This allows Geopointe Go to satisfy the same security standards as the customer's CRM, and ensures no data is lost.

Geopointe Go setup is done by one designated admin, so reps get a zero-install experience.

Geopointe Go users can plan routes, access maps offline

Teams choose from three possible sources of truth for their day's plan: an existing route, a calendar, or a Geopointe list. Admins decide which planning options are available across the organization. Reps open the app and work from the structure their organization has already established.

Once the plan is loaded, stops are ordered and an on-road route line gives the rep a clear view of the day ahead. Geopointe Go cashes a vector map of the plan area directly on the device, so reps never lose access and can pan and zoom the map even while offline. They can also see their current location via GPS without relying on an active data connection.

Check in, out of field visits

Using Geopointe Go, a rep can check in at a stop with a tap and continue through the day without waiting for Salesforce connectivity. Each completed visit is designed to write back to Salesforce as a check-in record along with its completed activity. The write happens together, helping prevent partially saved visits.

When a rep records the visit offline, Geopointe Go holds the activity locally until the device reconnects. Syncing then happens automatically.

Sync data back to your CRM automatically

If reps need to change a task date or update the description while they are standing in front of an account, Geopointe Go keeps those Salesforce tasks accessible from the field.

Tasks can be organized by timing so reps can see what needs attention now and what is coming next. Edits made offline stay queued on the device. When connectivity returns, the changes are written back to Salesforce.

Managers configure real-time location tracking

Geopointe Go can also support location updates during an active workday.

Admins choose the location-update cadence for the organization. Updates can occur as frequently as once per minute or as infrequently as once per day. The capability can also be disabled. Location updates begin when the rep starts the workday and stop when the day ends.

Upload field materials for rep use

Connectivity can also affect access to sales and service materials.

Geopointe Go allows admins to make shared reference assets available to field users. Those materials are cached for offline access and remain read-only for reps. A team could make price sheets or playbooks available this way. Product one-pagers and other field resources can live there too.

Admins configure the experience for the whole org

The rep experience is intentionally light on setup. An administrator manages Geopointe Go centrally from a single Admin tab. The admin establishes the Salesforce connection and controls which planning sources are available. They can define the task-download window, manage shared materials, and set the organization's location policy.

Reps then sign in to their own Salesforce environment and use the configuration their organization has already established.

Keep data secure, private

Offline access introduces an obvious question: what happens to company and customer data?

Geopointe Go is designed around the customer's Salesforce environment as the system of record. Users authenticate as themselves against their organization's Salesforce. Long-lived credentials are kept off the device, while the mobile experience uses short-lived access tokens.

Traffic runs through the Ascent Cloud platform's API gateway. Access is also scoped to the user's organization.

Ideal use cases for Geopointe Go

  • Medical device and healthcare sales — Hospital, clinic, or physician-office visits where reps need account details and visit logging even with poor indoor reception.
  • Building materials and manufacturing sales — Distributor, dealer, or job-site visits across large territories where cell coverage can be inconsistent.
  • Telecom and broadband field teams — Site visits in rural or newly developed service areas where reps still need maps and Salesforce tasks without reliable connectivity.
  • Retail and merchandising teams — Store visits for audits or execution checks, with offline access to assigned locations and reference materials.
